Professional crisis in the humanist world
It is actual fact, that humanist occupations are very popular nowadays. Since school a lot of people suppose this work to be very attractive. With such an viewpoint they are brought up in their families, go to school, to a institute and after all they begin educating their own children that way. Cul-de-sac.
Why is it so? What do make people think that manual operations have lost their popularity?
There are several reasons.
first present engineering reached such a high degree of growth that society is capable of using it without having specialized technical knowledge. So there is no need for subsequent diffusion of engineering education. Humanits use begins dominating in all fields of life.
second it is an well known fact that we live in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to describe the world around and use things, but not to make something by themselves. Naturally this fact does not influence positively on dissemination of technological education. People are simply not concerned with it.
Thirdly the resource base has reached such a degree of desolation that we often have no place for work after studying the theory.
Finally a very important thing is the policy of the government. What professions does it consider as called-for nowadays? We can easily find out it by researching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what professions do they popularize now? It is easy to prove that they are full of non-technical images. Mass-media present us easy life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a in the issue?
Lack of trained workers in the technological sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a expensive jointer planer. This will cause a dangerous situation when we will be needing very simple things which are very important for our comfortable existence.
Besides that our education system is totally destroyed. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no qualified lecturers able to educate worthy personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our state do in order to correct the situation? It seems to me that there are several actions to be taken. firstly our country should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs future. state should do its best in order to popularize technological specialities in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to save technical specialities is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
